Brazilian great Ronaldo Nazário and French former top striker Thierry Henry have expressed different opinions on the performance of the Brazilian side that defeated Haiti 3-0 yesterday.
Brazil’s Matheus Cunha netted a brace.
Ronaldo said of the victory, which is their first win after playing a draw with Morocco.
“The scoreline says 3-0, but I don’t think this was a performance Brazil should be completely satisfied with. Of course, winning is important. At a World Cup, the three points are what matter most. But when you wear the Brazil shirt, people expect much more than just a result.
Henry hinted that Brazil showed their mentality as a unified team in the match.

“People will talk about the goals, the highlights, and the individual performances, but what caught my attention was the mentality of this Brazil team.
“For years, we have associated Brazil with flair, tricks, and individual brilliance. Tonight I saw something different. I saw a team working for each other, pressing together and playing with a clear structure. That’s what wins major tournaments.
“Vinícius Júnior was sensational. Not only because of his quality on the ball, but because of the responsibility he has taken within this team. Every great Brazilian generation has had a player who carries the belief of the nation on his shoulders. Right now, that player is Vinícius.

“I was also impressed by the chemistry between the front players. They looked like footballers who had been playing together for years. Their movement was natural, and their understanding was excellent.
“And this may surprise some people, but after watching this performance, I don’t think Brazil are desperate for Neymar’s return. Neymar is a legend and can still offer something special, but this team no longer looks dependent on him. They have found another way to play and they look comfortable doing it.
“As for Matheus Cunha, he deserves enormous credit. He brings balance, intelligence and selflessness. Every successful team needs players like him. Sometimes the difference between a good team and a great team is a player willing to do the work that others don’t notice. Cunha does exactly that.”
