Football Reacts To City Earthquake
The reported guilty verdict against Manchester City for 114 of 115 financial breaches has triggered explosive reactions across football, with Jose Mourinho demanding a Premier League title for Manchester United, Jurgen Klopp taking a swipe at Arsenal, and Rodri defending City’s legacy.
City have not commented beyond insisting the process is ongoing and confidential, but the football world is already in meltdown.
What They Are Saying
Mourinho: I Am A Premier League Champion With United
Jose Mourinho did not hold back.
“I am the greatest coach I know. I knew about Pep. I knew about City. Fraudulent. I knew about Barcelona too. Same story. Different shirts. Same smell. I could not say it then.
“Not like that. You say it and you become the bitter one, the jealous one, the man who cannot accept beautiful football. So I stayed quiet. Time will tell. Time is telling.
“In 2024 he was counting titles like a child with stickers. Six for him, three for me. Fine. I won mine clean. I do not want 150 lawsuits with my medals.
“When I lose, I want to shake the hand of a man who beat me under the same rules. Winning only means something if everybody plays the same game.
“Now the reports come. Guilty on 114 of 115. If that stands, there must be consequences. Football is work, talent, organisation, suffering. Not an accounting department dressed as a philosophy. Beautiful football does not wash dirty books.
“If they take 2017/18 from City and give it to Manchester United, then yes. I am a Premier League champion with United. Those players earned it. We earned those points. Nobody handed them to us. I will take that medal with a clean conscience.

“I told you finishing second with that United team was one of my greatest achievements. People laughed. ‘Jose making excuses again.’ Perhaps they understand now. Maybe my fourth Premier League title is only arriving late.
“I knew. I could not say it. Time will tell.”
Klopp: Liverpool Don’t Need Their Trophies
Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reacted with a brutal dig at rivals.
“I’m hearing they could lose 40-60 points or even have trophies stripped. Liverpool don’t need any of those… We’re giants of English football. Ask United and Chelsea.
“Arsenal, on the other hand, would probably throw a parade for a trophy they didn’t even win.”

Rodri: You Cannot Take What We Did
Former City midfielder Rodri, now at Barcelona, defended his old club.
“What we did, they cannot take it out of us. It’s something that is not paid by money.
“It’s paid with effort, with partnership, with being shoulder to shoulder every day.”
The Premier League has refused to comment, insisting the process remains confidential.
