It is all over! Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim is the authentic presidential candidate of the Accord Party for the 2027 election.
The Federal High Court in Abuja slammed the gavel on Monday, ending months of bitter legal war over the party’s ticket and ordering Accord to immediately upload Hashim’s name on the INEC portal.
Court Dismisses Cancellation Letter
Justice Mohammed Umar did not mince words. He threw out all preliminary objections against Hashim’s suit and rubbished the purported letter used to claim the May 30, 2026 presidential primary was cancelled.
The judge held that the so-called cancellation letter had no official stamp, no imprimatur, and no evidential value.
Hashim had told the court through his lawyer, Henry Akunebu, SAN, that he was the sole aspirant, paid the N50 million nomination fee, contributed N7 million for e-registration, and won the primary monitored by INEC officials.

Accord Party, represented by T.W. Olusesi, insisted the primary was cancelled. INEC lawyer, D.J. Gusen, said it did not monitor any primary because it got a cancellation notice.
Justice Umar rejected both arguments and affirmed the May 30 primary that produced Hashim.
“We Won’t Leave Anybody Behind”
Reacting, an emotional Hashim dedicated the victory to God, his legal team and party members.
“I give God the Glory for this victory. I dedicate it also to all stakeholders and our dear party members. We are grateful to the Judiciary that has done justice,” he said.
“I won’t leave anybody behind. We should all come together and work for the party’s victory in the January 16, 2027 presidential election. The march to a New Nigeria has started.”
With the judgment, Accord must now forward Hashim’s name to INEC, placing him officially on the ballot for 2027.
