Death came from the forest for the terror master.
A fearsome ISWAP commander who was plotting to turn the Yuletide into bloodbath has been wiped out in a deadly joint operation in Ondo State.
Senior terrorist leader Abdussamad Ohida, alias Anwar, was killed alongside his fighters at the weekend when a crack squad of Nigerian Army troops, DSS operatives, Amotekun and UK intelligence partners stormed their hideout in Owo forest.
Mastermind Of Kuje, Police Killings
Security sources said Ohida was not a small fish. He was the deputy to ISWAP Central Nigeria leader, Abu Ikrimah, alias Abu Uwais, arrested by DSS in 2023. After his boss fell, Ohida took over and expanded ISWAP’s terror network across North-Central and the South.
He was allegedly planning to attack civilians during the coming Christmas season and disrupt the 2027 general elections.
Intelligence that nailed him was extracted from Uwais during interrogation and corroborated by UK partners who backed the operation.
Sources linked Ohida to a long trail of blood:
- December 31, 2025: Invasion of Ipele Police Station in Owo, carting away 8 AK-47 rifles and blowing up the station.
- July 28, 2022: Suleja-Zuba Road military checkpoint attack that killed soldiers and civilians.
- July 11, 2022: Kuje Correctional Centre attack in Abuja.
- April 23, 2022: Ogaminana Police Station attack in Kogi, 5 officers killed.
- December 24, 2020: Naval checkpoint attack in Okene, 2 naval officers killed.
Huge Blow To ISWAP
A security source described his elimination as a massive blow.
“We may not realize it, but this is a significant disruption to ISWAP’s leadership and expansion in central and southern Nigeria,” the source said.
“Coming months after the killing of ISIS leader Abu Bilal al-Minuki, this underscores the growing efficiency of our security services.”
Security agencies are yet to issue an official statement, but the forest is now silent — and a nation can breathe a little easier.
