The air in Nigerian football is thick with tension, and stakeholders say it’s time to open the windows.
Amid whispers of a FIFA Normalization Committee takeover and possible exit for NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, football stakeholders are drawing a red line: no return of the “recycled” administrators they blame for years of stagnation.
“Don’t Bring Back Rejected Faces”
Monimichelle Sports CEO, Ebi Egbe, led the charge for a clean break. He warned against parachuting back the same officials linked to the sport’s current mess.
“Whatever Mr Chairman intends to do, please do not bring rejected individuals who played a significant role in creating our current predicament back into Nigerian football,” Egbe said.
He insisted Nigerians will resist any attempt to recycle leadership and expect a different result.
“Nigerians will vehemently oppose it. Our football needs fresh ideas, fresh leadership, fresh professionals and a new direction,” he added.

Battle Lines Drawn Ahead of September Congress
Another administrator, speaking anonymously to NationSports, dismissed rumors linking former NFF boss Amaju Pinnick to a Normalization Committee chairmanship. The source argued Pinnick’s previous tenure did not deliver and questioned what value another return would bring, even if it came from FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Instead, the administrator tipped former presidents Sani Lulu and Aminu Maigari as better options, citing their records.
FIFA has not confirmed any Normalization plan, and neither Gusau nor Pinnick has responded publicly.
With the NFF Elective Congress set for September 27 in Lafia, stakeholders say the countdown has begun — and this time, they want new blood, not old faces.
