NewsAfricng.com has gathered that the recently arrested armed dealers in Ibadan have links with an unnamed political figure in Nigeria.
Although the police haven’t named the politician, it is suggested that a preliminary investigation linked the armed dealers to an influential politician in the state.
Police have recovered additional weapons, ammunition, and vehicles linked to two suspected arms traffickers in Oyo State.
The suspects, Ganiyu Sodiq, 35, and Salaudeen Sheriff, 23, both residents of Komu, were earlier arrested with 240 live cartridges in their possession.
They were apprehended at Budo Pako in the Oke-Oyan area following weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, said on Thursday that the suspects could not explain the large cache of ammunition found on them. He said preliminary findings showed the duo supplied ammunition to criminal groups operating within and outside Oyo State.

A source said the suspects might be involved in more crimes than the police initially believed.
The weapons recovered included one pump-action gun, a single-barrel gun, one single-barrel cut-to-size gun, two locally made single-barrel pistols and one locally made double-barrel pistol.

The vehicles include a Mazda bus with registration number FFE08XB, a Hummer bus with registration number MUS246CK, and a BAW bus with registration number KTU688YG.
Others are a Toyota bus with registration number BDG117YK, another with registration number BRS842TW, a Toyota Sienna with registration number LSD68CJ, a Ford Sharon with registration number FKJ39EW, another Toyota Sienna with registration number BDG986SA, a Toyota Previa and a Nissan Cabstar.

Police also recovered a Suzuki Inazuma power bike, two scrap Honda motorcycles (one blue, one red), a scrap Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, and large quantities of Accord Party caps, shirts and face caps.
