The Volksparkstadion has a new predator.

Terem Moffi has landed in Hamburg, and with him comes fire, hope, and the famous No 7 shirt on his back.

After weeks of tense talks, Hamburger SV struck a verbal agreement with OGC Nice late Friday. €2m up front, another €500k in add-ons, and a contract through 2029. The deal was done. By Saturday morning the 27-year-old Nigerian was walking through the medical doors, grin wide, ready to rewrite his story.

For Hamburg, this is not just a signing. It is survival. Last season they were the third-lowest scorers in the Bundesliga. They leaked chances and lacked a finisher. Moffi is the answer they prayed for. Physical, 188cm of muscle, left foot like a hammer, and a nose for goal that once delivered 18 Ligue 1 strikes for Lorient and made him Nice’s top scorer in 2023/24.

The road here was brutal. An ACL tear. A fallout at Nice. A lonely loan spell at Porto. Supporters even turned on him in France. But Moffi never broke. He captained Nigeria at the Unity Cup this summer, assisted, scored, and reminded Europe who he is.

Now HSV are betting big. Handing him No 7 is a statement: you are our talisman. With Martin Adeline and Albert Grønbaek already in, Moffi completes the attack.

The paperwork is the last line. Once signed, Hamburg get more than a striker. They get a man with something to prove. And in Germany, that is the most dangerous thing of all.
