There was no hidden place on Monday for street urchins, social miscreants, beggars, and layabouts in the Lagos metropolis.
A Task Force made up of para-military forces combed the red-light districts of Lagos, from the Island to the Mainland, forcefully picked up hundreds of social miscreants and beggars who had become a menace to the most populated city in Nigeria.

The coordinated operation across Lagos State, carrying out ‘Operation Mop Them Up’, arrested individuals with no visible livelihood or residential address. While some were caught with dangerous weapons, suspected counterfeit drugs, and stolen items, others have no visible means of income and are not indigenes of the state.
