Manchester City have given the green light to Barcelona’s £65.4 million ($88.47 million) offer for Spain midfielder Rodri, according to reports in the British press.

The 2024 Ballon d’Or winner has reportedly agreed terms on a four-year contract with the La Liga champions. Sky Sports said Rodri will travel to the Nou Camp next week to finalize the move.

The 30-year-old leaves City after seven seasons and 298 appearances. He arrived from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a then club-record £62.8 million, and went on to lift 12 major trophies. That haul includes four Premier League titles, two FA Cups, three League Cups and the Champions League.

Rodri had entered the final year of his City contract, and the club had pushed for an extension. Instead, he will now link up with Barcelona.

He was not involved in City’s 3-0 Community Shield defeat to Arsenal on Sunday. The midfielder only reported back to the training ground on Friday after undergoing minor back surgery.

City lose a key figure in midfield, while Barcelona land a proven winner in his prime to anchor their side for the next four years.
