The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Rivers State Chapter, has congratulated former Chairman and veteran sports journalist, Amb. Udede Jim-Opiki, on his appointment into the National Executive Council (NEC) of SWAN as an Ex-Officio member.
Amb. Jim-Opiki was appointed alongside other members by the National President of SWAN, Mr. Benjamin Isaiah, to contribute his quota to the development of sports writing in the country.
This was contained in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of Rivers SWAN, Comrade Cyril Dum Wite and Comrade Tonye Orabere, JP, respectively.
Rivers SWAN expressed confidence that Amb. Jim-Opiki will perform his duties creditably and represent the chapter effectively, given his wealth of experience. Jim-Opiki has held several positions in Rivers SWAN, most recently as Chairman, and will bring his experience to bear in his new role.
The association urged him to be diligent, proactive and prudent in the discharge of his duties.
“We know that Udede Jim-Opiki will make us proud; we have no doubt about his capacity to deliver. Once again, we congratulate our own Amb. Udede Jim-Opiki,” the statement added.
