Ashe, Emmanuel, Godwin and Ezeakor clock 38.77 to win their heat

Team Nigeria delivered another strong outing on Day 3 of the ongoing CAA African Senior Athletics Championships, with the men’s 4x100m relay team storming into the final after an impressive victory in their heat.

Nigeria’s quartet of Favour Ashe, James Taiwo Emmanuel, Tejiri Godwin, and Chidera Ezeakor clocked 38.77 seconds to comfortably win their heat ahead of Namibia and Zimbabwe, who finished second and third, respectively.

The Nigerian team showed great coordination, baton exchange, and speed to secure automatic qualification for the final as hopes continue to rise for a podium finish in the event.

In Heat 2, Ghana’s team of Edwin Gadayi, Joseph Amoah, Ibrahim Fuseini, and Saminu Abdul-Rasheed won in a time of 38.69 seconds. Botswana finished second in 38.80 seconds while Kenya came third in 39.15 seconds.

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Ojeli narrowly missed out on a place in the final of the men’s 400m event but still posted a commendable performance at the championships.

Ojeli, who has competed in only three individual 400m races this season, recorded a new Personal Best time of 45.49 seconds in Ghana, a performance that highlights his steady improvement as the season progresses.

Also, two young prospects, Clergy Edet and Treasure Omosivwe, emerged as Nigeria’s representatives for the final of the women’s high jump event. The experience garnered in Ghana will be worthwhile as they seek to fly the nation’s flag high.

Attention now shifts to Day 4 of the championships where Team Nigeria will compete in both the men’s and women’s 4x100m relay finals with strong expectations of podium finishes in both events.
