People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chieftain, Chief Bode George, has distance himself from the defection of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
He said the governor did not inform him about his decision to move out of PDP or contest for president on the platform of the APM.
George told reporters in Lagos that when party chieftains were summoned to Ibadan for a meeting, he never knew that Makinde was leaving the party.
He said he got information about the Ibadan meeting that heralded the governor’s defection and declaration for president while he was in the United Kingdom.
George said although Makinde took his personal decision without informing him, he still regards him as his son.
He said Deji Doherty, who is parading himself as a governorship candidate in Lagos, is not a serious contender.
George said the Lagos PDP is intact, adding that it has resolved not to have any dealings with the APM.
He insisted that nobody can dismantle the structures of the PDP because it is an iroko tree.
The party elder chided Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Chief Nyesom Wike for creating confusion in Rivers State and the country.
He said he has not seen a situation where a single person nominated candidates for the PDP and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
