In a ferocious show of force, gallant troops of Sector 2 Joint Task Force, Northwest Operation Fansan Yamma have stormed the dreaded hideouts of Lakurawa terrorists in Kebbi State, leaving a trail of casualties and shattered enclaves behind.
The daring offensive, launched deep inside Arewa Dandi Local Government Area, was part of a renewed push to rid the Northwest of bloodthirsty terror gangs terrorizing border communities.
Military said that the troops, acting on precise intelligence gathered from the fringes of the Nigeria-Niger border, advanced through the notorious enclaves around Gumki – a known fortress of the Lakurawa group.

What followed was a fierce gun duel. With superior firepower, the troops overpowered the insurgents, neutralizing several terrorists on the spot while survivors abandoned their positions and fled in disarray into the dense forest.
Superior Firepower Overwhelms Terrorists In Gumki Forest
The operation turned into a nightmare for the terrorists as troops combed every inch of the forest. The area, once a safe haven for the gang, was left deserted, with their operational base completely destroyed.
Arms Cache, Motorbikes And Cash Recovered
A thorough search after the encounter led to a major haul. Troops recovered one PKT machine gun, AK-47 rifles, large quantities of 7.62 x 54mm belted ammunition and 7.62mm special rounds, four motorcycles used for swift attacks, two smartphones, and N87,000 in cash.
Assorted combat gear and other logistics were also seized during follow-up operations, dealing a crippling blow to the terrorists’ mobility and firepower.
