Victor Osimhen’s availability for Galatasaray’s blockbuster clash against Trabzonspor hangs in the balance, throwing the Turkish champions into fresh panic.

The Nigerian striker is racing against time to shake off his latest injury setback, with his club desperately hoping the international break would offer a window for full recovery.

Galatasaray Plead, NFF Says No

In a dramatic twist, Galatasaray reportedly reached out to the Nigeria Football Federation, begging them to excuse Osimhen from the Super Eagles’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers to allow him more time to heal.

But according to Score Nigeria, the NFF flatly rejected the plea.

With Nigeria locked in a must-win battle against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau, the federation is unwilling to gamble without its talisman. Head coach Eric Chelle has further underlined that stance by naming Osimhen in his 24-man squad, keeping the Napoli loanee firmly in contention despite his fitness worries.

It is a bold statement of intent from Nigeria – club or no club, country comes first.

Trabzonspor Clash Now Decisive

All eyes now turn to Istanbul.

Before any international showdown, Osimhen must first prove he is fit to lead the line for Galatasaray against bitter rivals Trabzonspor. The game could determine whether he jets off for national duty or is forced to watch from the sidelines.

For Galatasaray, it is a nightmare scenario. For Nigeria, it is non-negotiable.
