Vice President Kashim Shettima has told Nigerians in the diaspora that the nation’s economy has turned the corner and is now ripe for investment.
We Have Crossed The Rubicon
Speaking during an interactive session with Nigerians in the United States at Nigeria House, New York, on the sidelines of the 81st UN General Assembly, Shettima said President Bola Tinubu’s reforms are yielding tangible results.
“Rest assured that beyond the negative stories that you hear and see on social media, Nigeria is open for business. We have crossed the Rubicon, and we are on the path of sustained growth,” he said.
According to a statement by his media aide Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima cited growth in foreign reserves to over $55 billion from $3.9 billion, stability in the foreign exchange market, and a 4.45 per cent GDP expansion in the last quarter.

He said the Dangote Refinery success story and returning investor confidence are clear signs of economic recovery.
Your Brain Is Nigeria’s Future
Shettima urged diaspora Nigerians to support the transformation programme and bring home their expertise, describing their intellectual capital as “the greatest resource of the future.”
He said the administration is repositioning key sectors including education, healthcare, science and technology, and agriculture. He disclosed that over 1.29 million tertiary students have accessed N125 billion through the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.
On insecurity, he acknowledged challenges but said government is deploying all resources to tackle emerging threats.
“Whatever binds us together supersedes whatever divides us as a people,” he appealed.
The engagement was attended by Governors Babagana Zulum, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Siminalayi Fubara and Dauda Lawal, Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, Ministers Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Dele Alake, Tunji Alausa and others, alongside Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Jimoh Ibrahim.
