The American dream has turned to a nightmare for 134 Nigerians trapped in the ruthless dragnet of the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

In a chilling update that has sent shockwaves through the diaspora, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has dumped their names on its infamous “Worst of the Worst” register – a blacklist reserved for the most wanted criminal aliens in America.

Official records show the list swelled to 134 in August after 10 new names were added to the 124 published in July.

Fraud Empire Tops The Blacklist

An analysis of the damning register reveals a stunning pattern of financial crime. Fraud – especially wire and mail fraud – dominates the chart with a staggering 59 cases.

Money laundering follows with 17 entries, while identity theft, larceny and sex-related offences tie at 16 each.

The numbers paint a picture of a sophisticated web of alleged economic sabotage on American soil.

A Tangled Web of Multiple Charges

This is no single-offence story. Many of those listed are facing a cocktail of grave allegations.

For instance, Temitope Bashua is listed for wire fraud, identity theft and general fraud. Chukwuemeka Okorocha faces a four-count nightmare: wire fraud, drug possession, illegal firearm possession and aggravated assault. Chukwuemeka Chinye is tagged for bank fraud, larceny, identity theft and conspiracy.

In total, violent offences including assault account for 24 records, drugs for 10, conspiracy for seven, and immigration crimes like illegal re-entry for six. Weapons violations, computer crimes, DUI and forgery make up another 18 records.

Deportation Looms, But Date Still Secret

US authorities were quick to note that the figures reflect offences listed at the time of arrest and not final convictions, and that some individuals carry multiple charges.

However, the July and August updates offered no specific timeline for when the deportation proceedings will begin – leaving the 134 in a tense limbo, waiting for the final flight home in chains.
