Until her death, she was bubbling with life and looking forward to a promising future after completion of her National Diploma (ND) in Business Administration from Ken Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, in Rivers State.
That prospect was cut short on Tuesday, when 30-year-old Helena James Abrakassa was murdered by unknown person(s) and her corpse dumped on a highway in Port Harcourt.
Now, her distraught parents are demanding Justice and closure for themselves and their daughter. They have called on the police to speed up investigations into their daughter’s killing.
Helena was found dead along the Amadi roundabout axis in Port Harcourt on Tuesday night, about 8:20 pm.
According to the father of the deceased, Prince James Abrakassa, his daughter normally visits their house often, though she was staying with one of her female course mates at Amadi Ama, adding that he and his daughter had a cordial relationship until her death.

“I was in the house with my friends on Tuesday, 16th June 2026, at night, about 8:20 pm. One of my daughters called me “Daddy.” “I want to tell you something,” I said. “In this night?” Okay, tell me. She now told me that somebody who knows Helena called one of our neighbors living in the same estate and said that he saw Helena’s dead body along Amadi roundabout.
“I shouted, and I started rushing to the scene, but before I reached the scene, the matter had already been reported to the Amadi Police Station, and they had deposited the deceased in the mortuary; in fact, I would have been crushed by a trailer while coming back home due to absentmindedness occasioned by the death of my daughter,” Prince Abrakassa said.

He explained that Helena James Abrakassa was gentle and jovial always. She did not deserve this.
“We will not bury her and keep quiet,” he broke down and said with tears.
“We gave her life, we sent her to school, and we prayed for her future. Now she’s gone. All we’re asking for is justice. Find the person who did this to my daughter.”
“The police must treat this case with urgency so no other parent feels this pain,” he added.
Speaking in pains also, the mother of Helena, Mrs. Rachael Abrakassa, also called the government, the police, and all authorities concerned to do adequate investigations to bring perpetrators to book and let justice prevail.
The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Rivers State Police Command, ASP Agabe Blessing Kaborlo, confirmed the incident, saying that a proper investigation is ongoing so that they do not accuse or arrest innocent people.
