Reelected Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke says the world underestimates him, and he loves it that way.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the re-elected governor said his viral dance moves make people miss the politics behind them. “I like it when people underrate me because of my dancing skill,” he said. But when it comes to 2027, there is nothing playful about his stance: he is backing President Bola Tinubu.
“No Deal Signed, Just Yoruba Solidarity”
Adeleke denied any secret pact with the President. Asked if he made an agreement after Aviation Minister Festus Keyamo posted “Agreement is agreement,” the governor was blunt.
“No, I never reached agreement with Mr President,” he said. “My support is just based on, he’s a Yoruba man, and he’s from the South-West. I want to encourage him not to forget the South-West because all our federal roads lead to other regions.”
He added that since a Yoruba man has done one term, “maybe we should give him another chance to develop his reforms.” Asked if he would back Tinubu “all out,” Adeleke replied: “Big time, I will.”
Crossing Party Lines For Tinubu
The PDP governor and APC President have built a surprisingly warm rapport. Adeleke said he is ready to work with APC leaders in Osun, including his defeated rival Bola Oyebamiji and former governor Gboyega Oyetola, if it helps Tinubu.
“Whatever how he wants me to come in, I will do it,” he said.
Victory At The Polls, Heat Online
Adeleke won Saturday’s Osun governorship with 511,067 votes to Oyebamiji’s 444,815, carrying 19 of 30 LGAs. Keyamo later praised him on X as “a man of integrity and honour.” Online, critics called the endorsement contradictory. For Adeleke, the dance continues, and so does the politics.
