The chase is over. After days of tension at The Den, Brighton & Hove Albion have finally ripped Femi Azeez from Millwall in a blockbuster £15m, about ₦27bn

The 25-year-old Super Eagles attacker was Millwall’s crown jewel last season, 11 goals and 7 assists in 37 Championship games. That explosion turned him into the most wanted winger outside the Premier League, with Ipswich, Hull and Crystal Palace all circling.

Brighton weren’t taking no for an answer. The Seagulls had two bids swatted away, £10m and £12m. Today, Fabian Hürzeler’s side came back with a hammer blow: £12.5m guaranteed plus £2.5m in add-ons. Millwall blinked.

The deal shatters Millwall’s sales record. Their previous best was £14m for Romain Esse to Palace. For context, the Lions only paid Reading £1m for Azeez two years ago. A 15x profit in 24 months.

Azeez will sign a four-year deal with an option for a fifth, tying him to the Amex until 2031. He’s currently nursing an injury, but Brighton are unconcerned given his clean bill of health in the past.

Why Hürzeler Fought So Hard For Him
This isn’t just a squad filler. Brighton are back in Europe, competing in the Conference League, and Hürzeler needs depth that can bite.

Azeez gives him exactly that. He can play across the front three, presses like a demon, and arrives with Premier League hunger already burning.

The money is life-changing too. From £7,000 a week at Millwall to potentially among Brighton’s top earners, the Lagos-born winger’s rise is complete.

For Nigeria, it’s another flag in the Premier League. For Brighton, it’s a statement. They lost the first two rounds. They won the war.
