The Super Eagles have landed in Guinea-Bissau for a blockbuster top-of-the-table battle in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Players and coaches of the Nigerian national team arrived Sunday ahead of Tuesday’s crucial clash against the Djurtus, a match that will decide who tops Group L.
Eric Chelle’s men began their qualification quest with heart and fight, coming from a goal down to beat Madagascar 2-1 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo last Friday.
Group L On Fire After Opening Wins
But Nigeria sit second — not first. Guinea-Bissau also made a statement on Friday, crushing Tanzania 2-0 away from home.
Both teams have three points, but the hosts lead on goal difference. Tuesday’s encounter is therefore a direct shootout for supremacy in the group.
Since the win over Madagascar, the Eagles have been camped in Uyo. They held a recovery session on Saturday and trained again on Sunday morning before flying out.
The three-time African champions know what is at stake. A win in Bissau would not only put them top of Group L but also send a strong message that they are serious about returning to AFCON in style.
The stage is set, the Eagles have landed — now comes the battle.
