“Disgraceful, clueless, lazy.”

That was the verdict of furious Nigerian fans after the Super Eagles were humiliated 3-0 by Guinea-Bissau in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Bissau on Tuesday.

What was supposed to be a routine Group L clash turned into a nightmare at the Estadio 24 de Setembro as the Djurtus — ranked 132nd in the world — schooled Eric Chelle’s highly-rated Super Eagles.

Franculino Dju opened the massacre in the 15th minute, weaving past Bruno Onyemaechi to beat Stanley Nwabali. Mama Balde, Nigeria’s old tormentor who scored the winner in Abuja in 2023, doubled the lead in the 66th minute after exposing Bright Osayi-Samuel. Substitute Alvaro Djalo completed the disgrace with a 95th-minute counter to make it 3-0.

“We Had Possession, No Purpose!”

Despite boasting stars like Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Ademola Lookman and Moses Simon, the Eagles had possession without punch — 56 percent ball, 12 shots, only 3 on target.

Fans did not spare anyone.

“Disgraceful defending! Clueless midfield! Lazy attack! How do you lose 3-0 to Guinea-Bissau?” a fan raged on X.

Another fumed: “Chelle made three changes and still got it wrong. This team has no pattern, no hunger. NFF should be ashamed!”

Group In Trouble

The loss leaves Nigeria stranded on 3 points from 2 games, while Guinea-Bissau top Group L with a perfect 6 points after beating Madagascar earlier. Tanzania are already through as co-hosts, leaving only one ticket to fight for.

Former striker Peter Ijeh summed it up: “Guinea-Bissau exposed what Madagascar couldn’t. Being passive can’t win a game.”

With a friendly against Russia in Novgorod on October 6 next, Chelle must now convince a country that is fast losing patience.
