The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday set Rivers State on fire with a blistering attack on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, branding them political gamblers chasing power for personal gain.
Wike, who spoke during a charged town hall meeting in Abua-Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, said the duo have no clear agenda for national development but are addicted to contesting elections every four years.
Don’t Trust Your Destiny To Kalokalo Gamblers
Addressing a mammoth crowd of traditional rulers, political leaders, women groups, academics and youths, Wike warned Nigerians not to gamble with their future by trusting Atiku and Amaechi.
“Don’t trust your destiny to political gamblers. Don’t trust your destiny to kalokalo people,” Wike thundered.
“Atiku has run for presidency several times! That is why I said political gamblers. Every four years he gambles. Every four years he gambles.”
The former Rivers governor grouped Amaechi with Atiku, accusing them of desperate attempts to recover lost resources and influence through endless presidential bids.
He urged voters to scrutinize the motives and track records of aspirants rather than be swayed by empty promises.
Wike Dares Predecessors: Show Your Projects In Abua-Odual
Turning his fire to Rivers State, Wike threw a direct challenge to any former governor to come to Abua-Odual and point to one project they executed in the area.
“I challenge any other person who was governor to come to Abua-Odual and point out what he or she did for the people of Abua-Odual,” he declared.

Wike insisted that his administration transformed the area with critical road infrastructure that opened up communities, boosted economic activities and linked Abua-Odual towards Abonnema.
He said the people themselves are living witnesses to his achievements.
Forgive Everybody, Win Big For Tinubu
The FCT Minister called for total unity ahead of the 2027 general elections, appealing to leaders to reconcile and bring aggrieved members back into the fold.
“I have forgiven everybody. You too, forgive everybody,” he pleaded.
“We don’t want to lose one vote in this 16th of January 2027 general election. I want all of us to win with a margin that will surprise everybody,” he added.
Wike praised President Bola Tinubu for stabilizing critical sectors and restoring industrial harmony in tertiary institutions, urging residents to remain steadfast with the administration.
He urged the people to vote massively for Tinubu for President, Kingsley Chinda for governor, Felix Obuah for Rivers West Senatorial District, and Solomon Boss for Abua-Odual-Ahoada East Federal Constituency, all under the All Progressives Congress, APC. He also asked them to vote John Iderima of the PDP for Abua-Odual State Constituency.
In his remarks, APC governorship candidate, Kingsley Chinda, commended Wike for his grassroots mobilisation drive under the rainbow coalition, promising a bottom-up government where the people will determine their fate.
Earlier, Prof. Continue Eketu, who spoke for Abua-Odual communities, described Wike as his idol and reeled out projects executed during his tenure, declaring that the area has agreed to vote massively for all candidates of the rainbow coalition.
