The chase is over. After days of tension at The Den, Brighton & Hove Albion have finally ripped Femi Azeez from Millwall in a blockbuster £15m, about ₦27bnBrighton weren’t taking no for an answer. The Seagulls had two bids swatted away, £10m and £12m. Today, Fabian Hürzeler’s side came back with a hammer blow: £12.5m guaranteed plus £2.5m in add-ons. Millwall blinked.
The deal shatters Millwall’s sales record. Their previous best was £14m for Romain Esse to Palace. For context, the Lions only paid Reading £1m for Azeez two years ago. A 15x profit in 24 months.
Azeez will sign a four-year deal with an option for a fifth, tying him to the Amex until 2031. He’s currently nursing an injury, but Brighton are unconcerned given his clean bill of health in the past.
