‘I’m proud of what we achieved’

Bafana Bafana played the game of their life but it is the end of the road for them as a late strike from Stephen Eustaquio put Canada through to the round of 16.
Eustaquio was Canada’s hero as he broke the deadlock in injury time with a fine low shot from outside the box.
Canada had dominated their round of 32 match but it appeared destined for extra time, with South Africa defending heroically.
They could not keep out Eustaquio’s strike, however, and Canada will now take on either the Netherlands or Morocco on Saturday in Houston.
Hugo Broos, South Africa coach said he is proud of what his prayers have achieved at the World Cup and they would learn from the defeat.
“I told them to hold their heads high. They have achieved tremendous result here. I’m proud of them.’
