The Lagos State Head of Service, Olabode Agoro, has carpeted residents and some markets for failure to comply with sanitation laws, hence the reason for the flooding that was experienced in different parts of the city over the weekend.
As a result, environmental sanitation officials have been going around local government areas to ensure compliance.
Officials of Kosofe Local Government commenced the process by sealing up several houses and shops on Salami and Olorunfunmi streets for violating environmental sanitation regulations.
Most of the shops are houses that were built on waterways, causing untold hardship on the environment.

Newsafricng.com gathered that the exercise began at the council secretariat and moved through Olopo Meji Junction in Oworonshoki, where Agoro and the Chairman of Kosofe Local Government, Moyosore Ogunlewe, participated in clearing refuse while monitoring compliance.
Agoro said public participation had improved as residents realised the sanitation exercise was not a one-off initiative.
“Some people thought it was going to be a one-off. Now that they know it is not, I’m seeing more people coming out,” he said.
“You can’t wait for the government to pick up the dirt you put on the road. When we travel abroad, people don’t throw waste on the streets. We need to educate ourselves and take responsibility,” he added.
Ogunlewe reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustained environmental advocacy, stressing that the government alone cannot keep the community clean.
He urged residents to actively participate in future sanitation exercises, saying collaboration between the government and the public is essential to maintaining a clean, safe, and habitable Kosofe.
