A quiet evening in Onitsha turned into a major police operation on September 10, 2026, after a disturbing video surfaced online and set the Anambra State Police Command on a rescue mission.
A 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, is now in custody over allegations of child pornography, in a case that has shocked residents and triggered a full investigation.
The Viral Video That Exposed Everything
According to Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, detectives moved swiftly after open-source intelligence flagged a trending clip allegedly showing an adult using sex toys on a minor.
Acting on the tip, operatives tracked the location to Onitsha and arrested Onyeanusia. The arrest, police said, was made possible with support from local vigilantes, bloggers and residents who raised the alarm and shared information.
CP Nnanna Oji Ama described the alleged act as “unacceptable,” noting the vulnerability of children who cannot protect themselves. He ordered a thorough and professional probe into the incident.
Four Children Rescued, Evidence Recovered
The operation did not end with the arrest. Police said they rescued four children aged 2, 3, 6 and 9 years from the home.
Investigators also recovered sex toys and other items believed to be relevant to the case. The items have been secured as evidence as the Command works to establish the full scope of the alleged offence.
The husband of the suspect is also being questioned to determine if he had any knowledge or involvement.
Authorities stressed that the identities of the rescued children will be protected, and they will not be named or photographed.
Focus Shifts to Healing and Justice
Beyond prosecution, police say the priority now is the welfare of the children. The Command will partner with child-protection agencies and support groups to provide care, counselling and safe shelter for their recovery.
“The safety, dignity and wellbeing of these children come first,” Ikenga stated. “They will be treated with compassion and sensitivity throughout the process.”
The CP commended community members for speaking up, saying the case proves that public vigilance can stop abuse. Investigation is ongoing, and police say more arrests are possible depending on what the findings reveal.
