It was a bad day to be a terrorist in the North of Nigeria.
Troops of the Nigerian Army’s 8 Division and Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA struck hard in Sokoto yesterday, ambushing Lakurawa fighters in Rabah LGA and leaving them reeling.
Two days earlier, the same forces had beaten back coordinated attacks on soldiers and civilians. Far away in Adamawa, another raid wiped out a Boko Haram camp.
Ambush In Rabah: Weapons, Bikes Seized
Acting on credible intelligence, troops moved in on moving terrorists in Rabah yesterday. The firefight was swift and deadly. Two Lakurawa fighters were neutralized on the spot.

Soldiers recovered weapons and motorcycles abandoned as the rest scattered into the bush.
The operation came just 48 hours after joint teams repelled synchronized attacks on the Sifawa military barracks and the nearby communities of Badau and Danchadi.
The terrorists had hoped to overrun both troops and villagers. They were met with superior firepower instead.
Hell In Hong: 21 Boko Haram Killed In Mountain Raid
The heat wasn’t just in Sokoto. In Adamawa, a joint security raid around Kopre Mountain in Hong LGA turned into a slaughter for Boko Haram.
At least 21 suspected insurgents were killed, according to counter-insurgency publication Zagazola Makama, citing military sources. Others fled.
Troops stormed and destroyed the camp, burning motorcycles, bicycles and jerry cans of petrol the terrorists were stockpiling. The victory came at a cost.
One local hunter fighting alongside the security forces was killed in the encounter.
From Sokoto to Adamawa, the message from the battlefield is clear: the hunt is on, and the terrorists are paying for it.
