Nigerian defensive midfielder, Frank Onyeka is happy to finally land a permanent deal with Coventry as well as return to the Premiership.

The midfielder initially signed for City on loan back in January and his permanent move from The Bees has now been triggered following the opening of the summer transfer window.

Onyeka was an influential figure and played a key role in helping Frank Lampard’s side win the Sky Bet Championship title.

He made 14 appearances and scored a fantastic goal in a crucial match against Derby County back in April.

The 28-year-old brings a wealth of Premier League experience having played 75 league matches in the top-flight during his spell with the Brentford.

On moving to the Coventry Building Society Arena on a permanent basis, Onyeka said: “I’m really excited for the new season with Coventry.

“When I first joined last season, I came here with two goals and that was to win the Championship and help Coventry get promoted to the Premier League.

“I’m really happy to now be a Coventry player back in the Premier League.

“I will give everything to the team, fight for every ball, fight for my teammates and bring my experience.

“My ambition now is to help the Club stay in the Premier League and finish as high as we can.”

Onyeka’s permanent deal will come into effect from Wednesday 1st July.
