Two things have undoubtedly been true this summer: The superstars are shining, and the Golden Boot odds seem to be changing every minute.

After his 29th minute goal against Cape Verde, Lionel Messi has now scored in eight consecutive World Cup matches, extending his own record for the longest streak.

Messi is now up to 20 career World Cup goals, extending another

record, this one for the most goals by any man or woman in World Cup history.

He has now scored seven of Argentina’s 11 goals this tournament, and became the first player since the 1960s to score in five straight knockout stage games.

Meanwhile, after recording his second brace of the tournament in France’s Round of 32 win over Sweden, Kylian Mbappé scored his 19th career World Cup goal in the Round of 16 against Paraguay.

Mbappé is now also up to 11 knockout stage goals, extending his record for the most in World Cup history.
