A United States court has ordered an individual, Ivan Cantu, to pay American media mogul Kim Kardashian $167,000 in legal fees following a failed lawsuit.
The ruling follows the dismissal of a case filed by Cantu against Kardashian.
The dispute originated from a social media error where the reality star mistakenly posted Cantu’s photograph while advocating for a death row inmate who shared the same name.
Although Kardashian maintained the mix-up was an honest mistake corrected immediately, Cantu alleged the incident caused significant personal harm and sought damages.
The court, however, sided with Kardashian and dismissed the claims in their entirety.
Following the dismissal, Kardashian filed a request for $186,000 to recover the costs of her legal defence.

In the final judgment, the court awarded her $167,000.
Cantu, a father of two, had pleaded with the court to deny the request, arguing that a six-figure judgment would lead to his financial ruin.
