Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor said on Tuesday it has opened talks to sign free agent Mohamed Salah, with the board hoping to complete the deal this week.
In a filing to Turkey’s public disclosure platform, Trabzonspor stated that “negotiations have been launched to transfer professional footballer Mohamed Salah, who is in a free status, to our club.”
Club chairman Ertugrul Dogan told A Spor that the deal was not yet final.
He said Salah is expected in Istanbul on Wednesday for medical checks, before traveling to Trabzon to sign with the Black Sea club. Dogan added that the contract would likely be signed on Thursday.
Salah, 34, left Liverpool this summer after nine years. He scored 257 goals in 442 games and won two Premier League titles and one Champions League.

His 2024-25 season was historic. Salah netted 29 Premier League goals with 18 assists, matching the league record for goal involvements in a single season and setting a new mark for a 38-game campaign.
He swept Player of the Season, Golden Boot and Playmaker awards, the first to win all three in one year.
Last season his numbers dipped to 7 goals and 7 assists in 27 league games, and reduced Champions League minutes sparked a public clash with then-manager Arne Slot.
Salah began in Europe at Basel in 2012, then played for Chelsea, Fiorentina and Roma before joining Liverpool in 2017.
