Nigeria has held output above its OPEC target for the third month running, keeping crude and condensate production at a 17-month high in July 2026.
Data from the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission showed total output averaged 1.67 million barrels per day. Crude oil contributed 1.505mbpd, while condensate added 0.17mbpd.
The combined figure was well above Nigeria’s 1.5mbpd OPEC quota. Production ranged between a low of 1.57mbpd and a peak of 1.78mbpd during the month.
The July number represents a 4 per cent month-on-month decline from June. NUPRC blamed the drop on operational challenges at the Erha and Akpo fields, which it said constrained output.
The commission noted that most other producing assets remained stable.
Nigeria also beat its quota in June with 1.735mbpd of crude and condensate. Crude alone was 1.56mbpd and condensate 0.18mbpd, or 104 per cent of quota. That June crude figure marked the highest level since April 2020, a 74-month peak.
With two months of quota over-performance followed by a third, Nigeria’s output has now stayed above 1.5mbpd for the longest stretch in well over a year. NUPRC said it is working with operators to resolve the field issues and sustain the gains into August.
