The Labour Party candidate for Rivers East Senatorial District, Comrade Beatrice Itubo, has expressed optimism that she will win the seat in the January 2027 general election.

Itubo called on all eligible voters in the district to come out in their numbers to ensure victory for the Labour Party in the senatorial election and other positions across the state.

She stated this in an interview with Newsafricng.com, Port Harcourt Bureau Chief Tonye Orabere.

According to her, it is time to elect credible and transparent leaders to ensure economic growth and improve the quality of lives of the people.

“Labour Party has fielded credible candidates in all positions in the state for the forthcoming elections, therefore I urge voters to exercise their franchise with utmost sincerity and a sense of patriotism to the nation by choosing wisely for our future and the future of generations yet unborn,” she said.

She also called on party members to defend their votes up to the collation centre, and not just vote and go home to sleep.

Chief Itubo, who was former Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Rivers State Chapter, warned against vote buying, describing it as a clear perversion of democracy which is not good for a country like Nigeria.

“The Labour Party has fielded credible candidates from the presidential candidate to the least councillor position in the state.

“I tell you with honesty, if voted into power, I will not be nepotistic; every area and individual must be treated equally with no discrimination against any ethnic group. After all, Nigeria and Rivers State belong to all of us,” she said.

She added that LP members will vehemently resist any form of intimidation and electoral fraud in the senatorial district peacefully and in line with the law.

“The era of ballot box snatching and open rigging has passed. Members of LP will not tolerate such things anymore,” Comrade Itubo said.
