The highly anticipated APC/Ajide Unity Cup is already generating strong interest across Lagos State, with more than 40 clubs already indicating their intention to participate in the statewide football tournament.
The competition, sponsored by Honourable Tajudeen Ajide, a former footballer and chairman of Surulere Local Government, is designed to promote unity through football while mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, and APC candidates across the state.
Chairman of the organising committee and former Nigeria international, Tajudeen Disu, confirmed that registration for the tournament is free. He explained that matches will be played across all five divisions under the Lagos State Football Association, with the best teams progressing to the grand finale.
Disu also noted that the championship has received the endorsement of the Lagos State Football Association, led by Hajji Gafar Liameed.
According to the organisers, the winner of the competition will receive ₦1 million, while the first runner-up will take home ₦500,000. Several individual awards will also be presented to outstanding performers.
The APC/Ajide Unity Cup is expected to kick off next month, with the official press conference and draws scheduled to hold in early June.
