The governorship candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) Olajide Esan, has called for the arrest and prosecution of the contractor responsible for the newly commissioned Lameco flyover in Osogbo.
This is coming after a section of the bridge caved in just 21 days after inauguration.
Newsafricng.com reports that the Lameco flyover, reportedly built at a cost of N8 billion, caved in at a section on Friday, triggering widespread public outrage across the state.
After conducting an on-the-spot assessment of the site on Sunday, Esan described the job as fundamentally substandard. He insisted that the engineers and officials involved in the construction must be investigated and held accountable if found culpable.

According to him, the structural collapse raises grave concerns regarding the overall durability and safety of public infrastructure currently being delivered across the state.
“Those who constructed that bridge should be arrested immediately because the work is completely substandard. It is only in Osun State that I have seen people screeding a major bridge in the manner it was done, and we are now seeing the inevitable consequence,” Esan said.
He alleged that many state contracts are executed primarily as financial conduit pipes rather than to provide durable societal value.
