Taiwo Awoniyi is Premier League bound again — this time with newly promoted Coventry City.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports Coventry and Nottingham Forest have agreed a deal for the Super Eagles striker. Awoniyi is currently undergoing medicals ahead of a long-term move to the Sky Blues.
He becomes Frank Lampard’s second Nigerian signing this window after Frank Onyeka arrived from Brentford.
Awoniyi leaves Forest after 4 years with 23 goals and 6 assists in 103 games across all competitions. 21 of those goals came in the Premier League during 90 top-flight appearances. The former Liverpool forward joined Forest from Union Berlin in 2022 and was entering the final year of his contract.
Coventry will be hoping his experience helps them stay up after promotion.
