Few weeks after Nollywood lost one of its top stars, Alex Ekubo, it has announced the death of yet another.
Tope Osoba has died at the age of 40 after prolonged breast cancer battle.
The news was announced on Wednesday by her colleague Foluke Daramola on Instagram.
Osoba had gone public with her health struggle in November 2024, appealing for financial support after her first breast cancer surgery.
Daramola had also shared updates online, saying Osoba still needed a second procedure to remove remaining particles from her breast.
The additional surgery was estimated at N12 million.

In a video shared by Daramola, Osoba was seen during a hospital examination. Daramola said the actress had also reached out to Bolaji Amusan, president of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria, TAMPAN, for support.
In an earlier interview with BBC News Yoruba, Osoba said she discovered a lump during a routine self-examination. A doctor initially dismissed it as normal for her childbearing age, but further tests confirmed cancer.
She called the day she got the diagnosis “one of the worst days of my life.”
