Premier League champions Arsenal have pulled off a statement signing.
The Gunners have completed the capture of Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes on a four-year deal, with an option for a fifth year. The club confirmed the move on Saturday.
British media report the transfer fee is around £75 million, or about $101.16 million. It makes the Brazil international one of Arsenal’s biggest buys and adds serious steel and creativity to Mikel Arteta’s midfield.
Guimaraes did not hide his excitement after the move was announced.

“Since the first time I spoke to (Arsenal Sporting Director Andrea) Berta and Mikel, I was excited. I just felt inside of me that I need a new challenge in my life and I think to be an Arsenal player is going to be an exciting challenge,” he said on the club’s website.
“I am so excited to start. We have tough games to play this season, so the squad is going to be very, very important and I’m hopeful we can achieve our dreams.”
The 27-year-old arrived at Newcastle from Olympique Lyonnais in January 2022 and became the heartbeat of the team. He made 195 appearances in all competitions, scored 31 goals, and captained the Magpies to League Cup glory in 2025, ending their long wait for domestic silverware.
He has also been a regular for Brazil and played at this year’s World Cup.
The sale is another major hit for Newcastle, who have already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this window. Manager Eddie Howe also stepped down and was replaced by German coach Matthias Jaissle.
For Arsenal, it’s a clear message. They are going all in to defend the title.
