Tottenham have ripped up the script.
After a season spent staring into the relegation abyss, Spurs have just dropped another bombshell on the transfer market. Big-spending Tottenham have signed Brazil winger Savinho from Manchester City, a move that shoves their summer outlay past £300 million and tells the Premier League this is a very different club under Roberto De Zerbi.
Both clubs confirmed it on Monday. No official fee was announced, but British reports put it at £75 million plus £10 million in add-ons. That one deal alone pushes Spurs to about £322 million spent in the window.
A £300m statement of intent
This is not the Tottenham that limped to 17th last year. This is De Zerbi building a new team in real time, and he wanted firepower out wide.

“(Savinho) is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity,” De Zerbi said.
“He’s very pleased to have him with us, and I’m looking forward to working with him, helping him continue to grow and seeing him bring his personality to the team.”
Savinho becomes the headline name in a window already packed. Spurs have also brought in midfielders Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, plus defenders Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke.
From Girona breakout to Spurs spotlight
The 22-year-old’s rise has been rapid. He started at Atletico Mineiro, moved to Troyes in 2022, then exploded on loan at Girona. Eleven goals in 41 games helped Girona finish third in LaLiga in 2024 and reach the Champions League for the first time.
City swooped that summer. In two years at the Etihad he made 84 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven, and earned 13 caps for Brazil. Now he swaps sky blue for lilywhite, with a remit to light up the wings.
What comes next for De Zerbi’s Spurs
The timing is urgent. Spurs opened the Premier League with a flat 3-0 loss at Brentford on Saturday. They host Charlton Athletic in the League Cup on Wednesday, then Newcastle United at home on Saturday.
And the business may not be done. Reports say Spurs are also in talks with City over Egypt forward Omar Marmoush.
One thing is clear. After nearly going down, Tottenham are spending like a team desperate to go up.
