Death was inches away, but fate intervened.

A 55-year-old driver miraculously escaped unhurt after a speeding train rammed into his Honda car at the PWD Railway Crossing in Lagos.

Train Crushes Honda Beyond Recognition

The terrifying incident involved a train heading towards Agege and a Honda car with registration number EKY 902 JT.

Eyewitnesses said the collision was deafening. The train ploughed into the car, mangling it beyond recognition and dragging the wreckage along the track.

Many thought the driver would not make it out alive.

LASTMA To The Rescue

Operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and security personnel raced to the scene in a swift emergency response.

They pulled the driver out of the wreckage alive, without a scratch, and cleared the mangled car off the railway line to allow the train continue its journey.

LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs, Adebayo Taofiq, confirmed the incident, stating that no casualty was recorded. He said the damaged vehicle has been handed over to security personnel for investigation.

Despite the quick clearance, traffic around PWD axis was thrown into chaos, with gridlock stretching along the corridor.

Bakare-Oki Warns Motorists

LASTMA General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, hailed his men and security agents for their prompt action.

He warned motorists to stop playing with death at railway crossings, urging them to never attempt to cross when a train is approaching.

“Obey railway safety rules. One second of impatience can cost a life,” he warned.
